You use the formatting tools to control the fonts, alignment, color, and lines that appear in the tables of all Quantrix matrices and views. You can apply formatting to the following items in Quantrix: Cells, Items, Item Groups, Categories, Formulas, Model Browser Folders, Model Browser Views, Charts, Chart Annotations and Canvases. To apply formatting, first select what you want to format and then choose a set of options.
The format toolbar provides shortcuts for commands in the Format menu and in the Format Toolbox. Hover your mouse over each icon to see its description.

The Format Toolbox controls the appearance and layout of data, charts and canvases. Open the Format Toolbox in one of these ways:
Choose Format > Format Toolbox
Click the Format Toolbox button

If you are in a matrix, right-click and choose Format Toolbox.

Tip: The Format Toolbox displays only the formatting options that are available for the selection (whatever has the focus). For example, formatting options differ when the selection is a cell versus a chart legend. Below are some examples of the Format Toolbox options you may see.
Below is an example of how the Format Toolbox displays if you have a Chart view selected: the Format Toolbox options differ depending on where you click in the chart. The image on the left shows the Format Toolbox options when the body of the chart is selected, the image in the middle shows the Format Toolbox options when a chart axis is selected, and the image on the right shows the options when the chart legend is selected:

As with Charts, the Canvas Format Toolbox options differ depending on where you click, and what canvas components you have. Below are three images: the image on the left shows the Format Toolbox when the body of the canvas is selected. The middle image shows the Format Toolbox when a canvas object is selected, and the image on the right shows the Format Toolbox when the selection includes a bound cell widget.

You can keep the Format Toolbox open at all times, or display it only when needed. It appears in the tool area of the model window. When you make a change using the Format Toolbox, Quantrix applies the change immediately; you do not need to click a button such as Apply or OK to explicitly apply it.
You can hide the Format Toolbox at any time by clicking the Format Toolbox button or the tab close button (X). You can detach the Format Toolbox, as you would any tab, by using the right-click pop-up menu option to Detach.
You can re-attach the Format Toolbox at any time by using the right-click pop-up menu option and selecting Attach. The tab is re-inserted in its original position.
The Format Toolbox sections can be expanded and collapsed, as indicated by the arrows that show when you mouse-over the toolbox section headers.
You use the Format menu from the menu bar to:
• open or close the Format Toolbox
• apply font styles to text
• apply conditional formatting
• control the alignment of text
• collapse or expand items
• set financial formatting
• hide default grid lines
You can click to see a pop-up menu when your mouse is positioned on an item, cell, canvas widget, chart series item, etc. The right-click menus vary depending upon where your mouse is located when you access them, and may also depend upon data.
